  • Identification and mapping of all service penetrations and shaft openings.
  • Appropriate fire stop solutions selected based on penetration type, size, and service conditions.
  • Professional installation of fire stop materials around cable trays, pipes, ducts, and conduits.
  • Inspection & Compliance Quality checks performed to ensure compliance with NBC fire safety requirements.

Project Outcome

The passive fire protection system ensured:
Complete sealing of shaft and floor penetrations. Compliance with NBC fire safety norms – From third party NBC consultant. Prevention of fire and smoke spread between compartments. Enhanced overall building safety.

Service Areas Covered

The project involved implementation of passive fire stop systems across multiple service areas, including:

  • Sealing of all shaft cutouts. Fires topping of cable tray penetrations Sealing around HVAC ducts.
  • Fire stopping around plumbing and utility pipes Sealing of electrical conduits and cable bundles.
  • Fire stopping at floor and wall penetrations. Maintaining fire compartmentation between floors and zones.
  • All penetrations through fire-rated walls and slabs were sealed to prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and toxic gases.

Technologies Used

To ensure reliable and compliant fire protection, the following firestop technologies and materials were used: 


  • 1. Firestop Sealants: High-performance intumescent firestop sealants were used to seal gaps around cables, pipes, and conduits.
  • 2. Firestop Mortar: Fire-rated mortar systems were applied in large floor openings and service penetrations to restore the fire rating of slabs.
  • 3. Firestop Wraps and Collars: Intumescent wraps and collars were installed around combustible plastic pipes to maintain fire resistance.
  • 4. Firestop Foam: Used for cable tray penetrations and areas where future cable additions may occur.
  • 5. Firestop Boards / Panels: Installed for large service openings in shafts, providing durable and maintainable fire barriers.
